Travels while Living in Nottingham 1972 - 1976
We lived in Nottingham in Wortley Hall Close on Nottingham University Campus. Pete worked as a lecturer in the Maths Department. We were tutors to the students living at Wortley Hall.
We bought a Volkswagon Dormobile campervan to use as our car and also to camp in when we went travelling in the UK and in Europe.
On July 7, 1973 we drove the van to Dover and crossed the English Channel to Calais in France. We camped in a gravel stockpile area.
July 8, Drove to Abbeville then to Rouen - walked streets, saw and photographed cathedral - bombed during war? Rouen to Chartre, saw and photographed the cathedral. Very hot weather. Camped in gravel stockpile area just short of Chateau-Renault- July 9, Drove to Tours - shopped, flats galore. On to Amboise in Loire Valley, took photo of bridge and 15th-century Chateau d'Amboise. On to Chenonceau where we toured the Chateau with tapestries and Old Master paintings. Spectacular castle. Then on to
